I Wanna Dance with Somebody(But Maybe Not with Tobito and Paint Buckets)

Song of the Day:
🎶 I Wanna Dance with Somebody – Whitney Houston

Motivational Quote:
"There are three ways to ultimate success: the first way is to be kind. The second way is to be kind. The third way is to be kind." – Mister Rogers

The First Rep
Mondays are a mental game. You can let the weight of the week crush you before it even starts, or you can set the tone and push forward. I’ll be honest, I woke up dragging today. The grind felt heavier than usual.

That’s when Tobito popped his head in.
Tobito: “You look like you need some motivation. Want me to sing Whitney Houston?”
Me: “Absolutely not.”
Tobito (already belting): “I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODYYYYY!”

And here’s the thing — as much as I rolled my eyes, he wasn’t wrong. Sometimes you need a spark. For me, it came from people. A conversation with a friend at the gym made my morning better. Talking with a woman about grabbing dinner lit up the middle of my day. Another quick chat with a woman about her day reminded me that kindness goes a long way — for them and for me.

Kindness, connection, conversation — that’s how you win Mondays. Mister Rogers and Whitney Houston had it figured out.

The Grind & The Glory
The grind today was all mental. Physically, I showed up: gym, work, steps. But mentally? It was a tug-of-war between wanting to disappear under a blanket and choosing to keep moving.

The glory was in the interactions. Hearing a friend push me at the gym reminded me why I’m there. Asking someone about their day gave me perspective. Flirting about a date reminded me that life is bigger than just the weights and the scale.

Whitney’s song hit me right where I needed it. That need to dance, to connect, to share joy with somebody — that’s the real fuel that pushes you through Mondays.

Mini Adventure: Tobito the “Painter”
Later in the day, I was cleaning my room and headed toward the kitchen when I noticed the dog and the Refried Avenger standing outside the doorway. Both of them were unusually still.

Me: “What’s going on?”
Refried Avenger (serious voice): “Be careful. Tobito’s being creative.”
Me (smirking): “How bad can it be?”

I stepped inside.

The smell of spilled paint hit me first — sharp, chemical, overwhelming. My socks stuck to the floor where streaks of blue and red dripped across the tile. Tobito stood in the middle of it all, holding a paintbrush like it was Excalibur, smudges of yellow across his face like war paint.

Tobito (excited): “I’m channeling Van Gogh! Behold my masterpiece!”

Before I could even ask what he was painting, his brush flicked wildly, splattering straight across my face. Thick, wet, cold. My eyes burned from the sting of cheap acrylics.

I stumbled back into the hallway, dripping blue across the floor.

Refried Avenger (howling with laughter): “Told you so.”
Tobito (from inside the kitchen): “It’s called art, thank you very much. Sacrifice is part of the process!”

The dog barked once like he agreed with the Avenger.

Daily Victory Lap
Mondays test the mind more than the body. But today I pushed through with kindness, conversation, and a little Whitney Houston energy. The grind was heavy, but the glory was in the people and the moments. And even with paint on my face, I’m calling this one a win. Tomorrow, I run another lap.
