Building Forts & Burning Gumdrops

Song of the Day: Take It to the Limit – The Eagles 🎶
Motivational Quote: “Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground.” – Theodore Roosevelt 🌟

The First Rep

I picked up the weights this morning, and before I could even get through my warm-up, Tobito pops up on the counter, arms crossed like some kind of drill sergeant tortilla.

“Remember,” he said in his squeaky-yet-serious voice, “limits aren’t walls… they’re doorways. Push through!”

Which would’ve been really motivational if he didn’t immediately trip on his own foot and land face-first in my gym towel. Still, the point stuck: limits aren’t permanent, they’re just checkpoints. So I finished the set. Thanks, Tobito.

Mindset Matters

Here’s the thing about this journey: it’s not just about sweating buckets or watching what you eat. Your headspace matters. You can eat kale, run 10 miles, and deadlift your car, but if your mind isn’t in it, burnout sneaks up quick.

Taking care of your mental state is just as important as taking care of your physical state. Rest days, hobbies, laughter—they aren’t “cheating.” They’re part of recovery. Theodore Roosevelt nailed it: dream big, but stay grounded.

Mini Adventure

Later in the day, I heard shuffling in the kitchen. When I peeked in, Tobito was dragging a blanket across the floor while the Refried Avenger stood with his arms crossed, looking like a very annoyed burrito.

“We’re building a fort!” Tobito announced proudly.
“Are you sure ghost stories are a good idea?” Refried Avenger muttered, clearly skeptical.
“Scary stories build character!” Tobito shot back.

They stacked chairs, blankets, and pillows, and just as Tobito went to admire his masterpiece—the entire thing collapsed in a heap. The Avenger sighed the sigh of someone who has seen far too much chaos for one day.

Undeterred, Tobito rebuilt it, this time adding a “campfire”: a circle of mini pretzels with a bright red gumdrop in the center. When I walked into the kitchen again, Tobito was crouched down, rubbing his hands together dramatically.

“Ahhh… nothing like the warmth of a good fire,” he said, warming himself by a gumdrop.

I just turned around and walked back out. Sometimes you don’t ask questions—you just let the weirdness exist.

Closing Thoughts

This week, don’t just focus on the physical grind. Check in with yourself mentally. Build a “fort” of routines and boundaries that help you rest, recharge, and keep moving forward. And hey, maybe keep the ghost stories out of it.

And if you dare… drop a comment and tell me about the weirdest snack-based “fort” you’ve ever made.
We’re just getting started—and things are about to get strange.
