Reasons to Jump
The power went out yesterday. No lights, no internet, no backup plan. Just me, a dying phone battery, and the kind of silence that makes you realize how much you take electricity for granted. I had wanted to post, but instead I sat there in the dark like a kid stuck in detention, waiting for the clock to set me free.
But maybe that blackout was the universe’s way of reminding me: you can’t control everything—but you can control yourself.
So, I doubled down. Even without the blog, even with storms overhead, I still showed up for myself. I worked out both days—weights and cardio, pushing until sweat replaced doubt. Somewhere between my second set of presses and the pounding rain outside, I heard the opening synth of Van Halen’s Jump in my head.
“You’ve got to roll with the punches and get to what’s real.”
That line hit different.
Because here’s the truth—storms will knock the power out, work will drain your energy, life will throw curveballs when you least expect it. But you? You choose to jump.
