Manic Monday Motivation: Reflections in the Mirror (and an Empty Lunchbox)

🎵 Song of the Day: “Manic Monday” – The Bangles

Monday morning: the alarm clock blared like a banshee at war. 🕗
But this time, I didn’t hit snooze. I didn’t groan.
I rolled out of bed with one mission—resist the cravings.

No doughnuts.
No break room candy bowl.
No mysterious tray of “homemade treats” that’s been haunting the counter like a cursed relic since 7 a.m. 👻🍪

Even when someone waltzed in with a fresh box of churros—churros, people—I clenched my jaw like a champ and stayed strong. 🥊
Small win? Maybe. But it felt huge.

Because here’s the truth I’ve come to learn:

🪞 The mirror doesn’t show the fight.
💬 It doesn’t show the dozens of quiet “no thanks” whispered throughout the day.
🎂 It doesn’t show you walking past free cake like a warrior on leg day.
🍏 It doesn’t capture the inner wrestling match between the vending machine and the apple in your bag.
🧠 It doesn’t reflect the mental reps, only the physical ones.

The mirror may show the destination—but your heart remembers the grind.
And today, I know I showed up for myself.

🥗 The Lunch That Wasn’t

Just when I thought I was crushing the day, hunger crept in like a villain in a slow-burn horror flick. My stomach growled. I reached for the lunch I’d asked Tobito and The Refried Avenger to prep.

They had promised, “You’ll love it. It’s… hydrating.”
That should’ve been my first red flag. 🚩

I unzipped the bag with equal parts hope and dread, only to discover:

🥤 One bottle of water
🌽 A bag of plain tortilla chips
📝 A sticky note that read: “Crunch your goals!”

That’s it. That was lunch. That was all.

The Refried Avenger, stone-faced, said, “We’re trying intermittent fasting.”
Tobito, ever the trickster, chimed in: “Water is like soup if you believe hard enough.” 😑💧

They meant well (I think?). But I needed fuel, not motivational carbs.

So I snagged a protein shake, gave them both a death stare, reminded myself I’ve come too far to be undone by prankster pantry items, and carried on.

📈 Progress That Doesn’t Show on the Scale

Did I lose any weight today?
Not sure.
Do my arms look more defined?
Maybe.
Is my jawline chiseled yet?
Let’s not get carried away.

But I do know this:

✅ I said no to cravings.
✅ I moved my body.
✅ I didn’t let Monday win.
✅ I didn’t mistake hunger for failure.

If you’re fighting a silent battle today—cravings, fatigue, doubt—I see you. You’re not alone. And even if the mirror doesn’t reflect it yet, you’re making progress.
