🌮 TACO TUESDAY: Toilets, Raindrops, and Taco-Sized Support

🎵 Song of the Day: “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head” by B.J. Thomas
☔ The Great Toilet Incident (aka Today)
Some days start full of promise—fresh clothes, clean energy, maybe even a song stuck in your head that makes you feel like you're in an upbeat 70s movie. It’s the kind of morning where you feel ready to conquer your goals, maybe even make a new personal best.
And then… your toilet betrays you.
Not in a subtle, “fix me later” kind of way.
But in the “surprise water where there should never be water” way. The kind that makes you question all your life choices.
One moment I was brushing my teeth, the next I was ankle-deep in defeat. The dreams of a productive day washed away faster than you can say "plunger."
It didn’t matter how early I got up, how motivated I was, or how much effort I’d already put into the day—because nothing deflates your progress like a plumbing emergency that becomes an emotional ambush. It’s like hitting a speed bump when you’re already on fumes.
🌮 Before It All Went Sideways
Earlier this morning, things were looking good. I got up early (again), trying not to wake the house—especially the dog. Or the tacos.
Of course, Tobito was already up. Somehow. Bounding with an energy that could power a small city, or at least a very enthusiastic taco truck.
> TOBITO (arms raised like a tiny champion, practically vibrating with positivity):
> “IT’S A BEAUTIFUL MORNING TO BE ALIVE, HYDRATED, AND SLIGHTLY SORE!
> I BELIEVE IN YOU! I MADE YOU A ‘YOU’ PLAYLIST! I MADE YOU AN OMELETTE-SHAKE!
> ALSO… I BROKE YOUR WHITEBOARD BUT I WROTE YOUR GOALS IN KETCHUP!”
>
The Refried Avenger followed, calm as ever, holding a mop and a cup of tea. A beacon of quiet strength amidst Tobito’s chaos.
> REFRIED AVENGER (quietly, with a knowing nod):
> “Peace begins with presence. And protein. Handle today, one task at a time.”
>
And for a while, I believed them. I felt like I had my corner crew, ready for anything.
Then came the flood. The universe’s way of saying, "Hold my taco."
🛠️ The Deflation Phase
After the cleanup, after the panic, after the frustration, I just… sat. The adrenaline wore off, leaving behind a puddle of exhaustion and self-pity.
I tried to stay positive. Tried to tell myself it could be worse. But in truth? I felt low. Really low. Like a taco shell left out in the rain.
The dog padded over, nudged my hand, and curled up next to me like she knew. Her soft fur was a small comfort in the chaos.
Tobito walked over slowly. No shouting. No motivation playlists. Just a quiet, empathetic presence.
The Refried Avenger followed. Silent. Their usual stoicism replaced with a shared understanding.
They each placed a hand on my shoulder—one greasy, one firm—and just sat beside me.
No words. Just presence.
And in that moment, that meant more than all the motivational quotes, protein shakes, and pep talks in the world. It was a silent affirmation that even on the messiest days, you're not alone.
📌 Real Talk: Emotional Support Doesn’t
Always Speak
Not every day is a high-energy training montage. Sometimes, the "training" is simply navigating the unexpected.
Some days, you clean up water, hug your dog, and sit quietly in your gym clothes wondering what the heck just happened.
And that’s okay. More than okay, it’s real.
Progress doesn’t always mean lifting heavier or eating cleaner.
Sometimes it’s getting through the mess without giving up. It’s about finding resilience in the mundane disasters.
Sometimes it's sitting still, letting the rain fall—and knowing you’re not sitting in it alone. Knowing that your support system, whether human or canine (or taco-themed), is right there with you.
💬 Let’s Talk: Who Sat With You?
When have you had one of those days?
The ones where everything hits at once, and you feel like you're drowning in the unexpected?
Who—or what—sat next to you in the silence? What was that quiet support that made all the difference?
Drop a comment below. Share a moment that surprised you with quiet support. Because today, more than ever, I’m learning that presence can speak louder than words.
And if you’re going through it right now?
We’re still with you.
One task. One mop. One taco at a time.
