Saddle Up, It’s Funky Comeback Time

Song of the Day: “Uptown Funk” – Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars

The weekend was a blur of late nights and early mornings. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about balancing a collectibles show with weight loss and self-improvement, it’s that sleep is not optional — it’s essential. But, as it always goes, I found myself up way past my bedtime on Saturday, sorting through inventory, and then waking up way too early on Sunday to finish prep. Needless to say, the sleep didn’t happen, and neither did meal prep.

So, today, I’m dragging. The energy’s low, my muscles feel like I just fought off a horde of zombies (and lost), and I barely managed to put together anything for lunch. But here’s where the funk comes in.

Tobito and the Refried Avenger’s Funky Support

Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly make it through the day, Tobito, in his usual dramatic fashion, burst into the kitchen while I was trying to make a protein shake. “Yo, what are you doing?” he asked, eyes wide behind his taco mask.

“Trying to survive,” I muttered, pouring a questionable amount of protein powder into a glass.

“Survive? Nah, you gotta thrive! Grab your bat and swing at this day!” Tobito said, jumping up onto the counter with a flourish, like some motivational speaker on a sugar rush.

Refried Avenger, of course, wasn’t far behind, waddling into the room wearing his luchador mask and cape. “Hey! You can still make it happen,” he said, like it was some sort of secret superhero code. “You just gotta focus. You might be tired, but that’s the perfect time to prove yourself! No one cares about how much sleep you didn’t get. They care about what you do with the hours you’ve got left!”

They both stared at me like they were expecting me to just snap into a full-on dance routine to “Uptown Funk” and turn this tired, blurry morning into a full-on workout masterpiece.

When You Don’t Feel Like It, Just Show Up

I’m not gonna lie — getting through today has been tough. I didn’t meal prep, so I was scrambling for healthy options all day. I didn’t sleep, so I’m running on fumes. But, as I’ve learned from these little chaos-causing tacos, it’s not about feeling perfect — it’s about showing up and taking action when you least want to.

And that’s what I did today.

I may not have been able to hit the gym with my usual energy, but I showed up. I walked. I lifted. I kept my meals (mostly) on track, even if it wasn’t exactly the way I envisioned it. Progress doesn’t have to be perfect — it just has to keep moving.

Taco Wisdom for the Day

As Tobito said, “You gotta swing, even when you don’t feel like it.” He might’ve been talking about baseball, but the same goes for weight loss, work, and life. Even if you’re feeling off, showing up and doing something is better than doing nothing at all. Momentum is what gets us through the tough days.

Lesson of the Day: Progress doesn’t care about your excuses. It doesn’t care how tired you are. It only cares about showing up — and that’s what I’m doing. Maybe I didn’t get everything done, but I’m not letting today drag me down. Tomorrow’s a new day.

So, here’s to pushing through the fatigue, making it happen when it counts, and listening to Uptown Funk on repeat to stay energized.
