Cult of Consistency
On my drive to work, Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality” came on the radio, and it hit me just right. There’s something about that riff that makes you feel like you’re walking into a showdown—or at least strutting into the grocery store like it’s a WWE entrance. I turned it up, leaned into the vibe, and powered into the day.
Work was nonstop—crazy busy in that “is it a full moon?” kind of way. But I got through it, one task at a time, keeping my bigger goals in mind. After clocking out, it was gym time. My sanctuary. I had a few solid convos, got into a rhythm with my lifts, sweated out the stress, and let the endorphins do their thing. Then came that gym shower—the underrated hero of transition. It’s like hitting the reset button on your brain.
The highlight of the day? Reconnecting with an old friend. You know how time slips by, and suddenly it’s been months—or years—since you last talked? Yeah. Today we crossed paths and caught up like no time had passed at all. It was one of those conversations that fills your cup in a way lifting weights or checking off to-dos never can.
Every part of today—my stubborn dog, a face-melting guitar solo, that post-workout clarity, or a spontaneous reunion—was another step forward. Not just in my weight loss or fitness journey, but in becoming more grounded, open, and human.
It’s not about perfection—it’s about showing up, staying consistent, and laughing at the chaos along the way.
