"Momentum, Muscles, and a Haircut: Riding the Wave After a Win"
Song of the Day: “Lovely Day” – Bill Withers 🎵
Have you ever had one of those mornings where you wake up, step on the scale, and actually want to high-five yourself in the mirror? That was me today. After the kind of stress-filled week that could’ve been a rejected script from a disaster movie—HVAC mayhem, bathroom chaos, and enough sleep deprivation to qualify me for a zombie cameo—I somehow still managed to lose weight.
Cue the heavenly light, roll the credits, and crank up Bill Withers because, yes, it was a lovely day.
That win gave me enough momentum to vacuum a room and pretend that counted as full-house cleaning (baby steps). Then it was off to the gym for a workout that I’d rate somewhere between “beast mode” and “moderately proud adult who didn’t skip leg day.”
After sweating out what was probably the last of the stress pizza from three days ago, I headed to work, still riding that post-weigh-in high. And after work, the next step in my "Feel Good Transformation Tour" was a haircut.
Let me tell you something about haircuts: it’s not just about looking fresher than a Trader Joe’s produce aisle—it’s therapy in disguise. As the clippers buzzed and snipped, my hairdresser and I chatted like we were old sitcom side characters solving life’s little problems in 30 minutes or less. No pressure. No rush. Just easy conversation, and for once, I wasn’t thinking about to-do lists or plumbing.
When I got home, the dog greeted me like I’d just won the Nobel Prize in Treat Distribution. We played, we ran (okay, I walked, he ran), and then I fed him before collapsing into the couch with a smile that felt earned.
Takeaway of the day?
Sometimes, momentum is everything. One little win—like losing weight—can trickle down into so many parts of your day: cleaning, working out, being social, and even taking time for self-care like getting a haircut.
Tomorrow and the next day are dedicated to cleaning, rest, and more self-care. Because yeah, this journey isn’t just about losing weight—it’s about building a life that feels good to live in.
So go ahead. Put on your favorite feel-good song, take a moment for yourself, and remind yourself—you’re doing better than you think.
Let’s keep the lovely days rolling. 🌞
