"Blaze of Glory & a Busy Day’s Victory"
This morning hit like a freight train. I swear, my alarm clock was plotting against me. The bed was warm, the room was cool, and the last thing I wanted to do was face the day. But duty calls, right?
As I was dragging myself into the land of the living, "Blaze of Glory" by Bon Jovi came on—and let me tell you, nothing like a dramatic power ballad to get your blood moving. I’m not saying I did a full music video montage while brushing my teeth… but if my mirror could talk, it might submit the footage to VH1.
Work was chaos. Opening today felt like trying to organize a circus with one hand and fight off a raccoon with the other. But the silver lining? I racked up a ton of steps. Like, “You earned that Fitbit badge three times over” kind of steps. So, even though my stress levels flirted with Mount Everest territory, my legs were putting in work.
After clocking out, I hit the gym. I didn’t want to go—my body had already been through enough—but that little voice inside said, “You’ll feel better afterward.” And shocker… it was right. Just 45 minutes of sweat, music, and focus. It didn’t fix the day, but it gave me the upper hand.
Then came a surprise. I ran into one of my friends and was introduced to his sister for the first time. Super sweet, funny, and—get this—also into self-improvement stuff. We talked briefly, but it was one of those moments that made the day feel more connected, more human.
Later on, I met up with one of my closest friends. We didn’t plan it—it just kind of happened, the way the best conversations usually do. We caught up on life, swapped some struggles and small wins, and reminded each other that none of us really have it figured out. But we’re trying—and that counts for something.
Finally picked up my dog from my sister’s house. He ran to me like he hadn’t seen me in years, tail wagging like a metronome on espresso. We came home, had dinner, played for a bit, and now I’m finally winding down.
Today was one of those messy, exhausting, unexpectedly beautiful days. It didn’t go smoothly, but it went forward—and that’s all I need.
Here’s to waking up tomorrow, even if it’s hard… and hitting our version of a blaze of glory.
