"Running on Empty: Sleep Struggles, March Madness, and Pushing Through"


Entry #131 The Madness Begins

Lately, sleep has become a luxury that seems just out of reach. Even though I’ve been sticking to the same routine for weeks, I find myself tossing and turning at night. The result? A sluggish, foggy state that makes even the simplest tasks feel overwhelming. When you're running on empty, it’s hard to enjoy the little things—everything just feels a little less fun. Hopefully, I can get back to my normal sleep pattern soon.

But despite my sleep struggles, there's one thing keeping my spirits up: March Madness—one of my favorite times of the year! The thrill of the games, the energy of having friends over, and the friendly banter over brackets make this an event I look forward to every season. Between watching the matchups, making food, and soaking in the excitement, the days seem to fly by. Everyone has an opinion on who will take it all, and the constant chatter about predictions only adds to the fun.

Every part of my day is planned down to the minute, from the moment I wake up to the final buzzer. With games stretching into the night, sometimes past midnight, my lack of sleep is a real concern. The last thing I want is to doze off in the middle of hosting. Finding a way to stay awake will be the key to making it through the day without embarrassing myself.

To shake off the grogginess, I hit the gym this morning, hoping a good workout would give me a much-needed energy boost. I went through my routine, lifted weights, and even caught up with my gym fam—but the usual endorphin rush just wasn’t there. The workout was solid, the post-gym shower refreshing, yet my energy levels remained stubbornly low.

Thankfully, I’m lucky to have good friends who can come over and spend the day watching basketball with me. Even my dog is thrilled—more people mean extra belly rubs, and he’s all for that! Now, I just have to figure out how to push through my exhaustion, keep my eyes open, and fully enjoy the madness of March.
