"The Quest for the Perfect Shades: A Personal Struggle"
Entry #56
We've all been there - the excitement of running to our car after a long day, only to be met with the crushing disappointment of broken sunglasses. For me, it's not just about the inconvenience; it's about finding a new pair that not only protects my eyes but also completes my outfit. In this post, I'll share my personal struggle with finding the perfect sunglasses, the challenges of navigating the rules of face shapes and head sizes, and the elusive quest for a pair that makes me feel confident and stylish.
It's always exciting to run to your car after work, until you open the door, sit down, and crunch. As you lift your lunchbox up, you see your now-broken sunglasses. That sucks - not only did I like the way they looked, but I also liked the way I looked in them. Shopping for sunglasses isn't fun; it's hard to find ones that I like, and even harder to find ones that look good on me. The rules for finding the best fit don't make it any easier. One common method is the shape of your face method, where you buy sunglasses based on which of the five shapes your face resembles. Another approach is to consider your head size, taking into account the height and width of your face to find the perfect fit.
However, if you don't want to follow these rules, there are sunglasses designed to fit any size or shape. Paso Robles and aviator styles are two examples, advertised as suitable for any face shape. I've tried both, but to be honest, I don't think I look good in either of them. If I had to wear them just for driving, I could manage, but I prefer to have a pair that can double as a stylish accessory for my outfit.
Imagine walking into a store, trying on different sunglasses, and dancing to your favorite tunes while finding the perfect pair - a cheesy, yet entertaining, montage. Perhaps Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top or I Wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston would be the soundtrack to my sunglasses-finding adventure. While this scenario may be unrealistic, it highlights the frustration and excitement of finding the perfect shades.
As the actor Michael J. Fox once portrayed in an episode of Scrubs, the way you take off your sunglasses can say a lot about you. For me, sunglasses are more than just a practical accessory; they can make or break an outfit. A pair that fits well and ties the outfit together can take my style from 95% to 100%, adding that extra x-factor. I'm not happy about breaking my previous sunglasses, as it took me a long time to find a pair I liked. Hopefully, this time around will be less painful, and I'll find a new pair that makes me feel confident and stylish. Doesn't everyone deserve a pair of sunglasses that looks good on them?
