"Confessions of a Self-Care Newbie"
Entry #25
I'm terrible at taking real rest days. For me, "rest" means doing yoga or cardio – basically, anything that doesn't involve actual relaxation. But recently, I've discovered the magic of self-care (yes, I'm late to the party). I've started meditating, getting chair massages, and... well, that's about it. Clearly, I need to do some more research.
One thing that used to bring me pure bliss was shaving with my trusty hot lather machine. It was like a spa day for my face! The warm, velvety lather was like a symphony of relaxation. I'd feel like a new man, ready to take on the world (or at least, my day).
I received the machine as a Christmas gift, but I had no idea what it was. I stuck it in the closet and forgot about it for three whole months. When I finally dusted it off, I was hooked. My girlfriend at the time loved it too – not just because I was smooth-faced, but also because I smelled amazing.
Sadly, all good things must come to an end. The machine finally gave up the ghost, outlasting my condo, car, and two girlfriends (talk about a trooper!). But here's the kicker: I was too dumb to note the make and model, so I've been unable to find a replacement.
Shaving just isn't the same without my trusty hot lather machine. It's like going from a warm hug to a cold, impersonal handshake. I'm on a mission to find a new one and rediscover the joy of shaving. Until then, I'll just have to keep searching – and practicing my self-care skills.
